AREA 12 Champs!! They were undefeated in tournament play beating Winston County 10-0, Hamilton 4-0 and Cordova 12-0 in the final. The Lady Pirates advance to the Regional Tournament in Tuscaloosa. The Pirates will play on Friday, May 10th at 9:30 and 12:30.

Big Jerry’s Cookout on Thursday, May 9th

“The Winfield Touchdown Club is hosting a Big Jerry’s Cookout on Thursday, May 9^th, at the Winfield Community Center. Lunch will be served from 11 – 1 and dinner will be served from 4 – 7. Coach McKinney will be there in the afternoon meet families and friends of Winfield Football so come out and join the fun.

Winfield Football players, Cheerleaders and Booster Club members are selling tickets: Steak plates for $12 and grilled Chicken Plates for $10. Lunch plates will be delivered starting at 10:30 am to local businesses for orders of ten or more.

Golf Team Places at Sectionals

The Winfield golf team played in the 1A-5A Sectional Tournament in Cullman, and won second place. The results by team were as follows:

The girls will travel to Spanish Fort for Sub-state Monday, May 6.

Winfield Schools New Website Launching

The Winfield City School District is designing an all-new website. The new site will be streamlined, organized, and user friendly.

The launch date for the new website is Monday, May 7.

CJ Dean Places at State Contest

Winfield’s SkillsUSA members competed at the statewide competition on April 25 in Birmingham.

C.J. Dean placed second in the state in Diesel Service Technology. Congratulations to CJ and the rest of Winfield’s competitors.

Jared Henderson has been honored as Alabama’s Mr. SkillsUSA for 2013.

Jared will also represent the Northern District of Alabama SkillsUSA organization as an officer for the 2013-2014 school year.

School Video Coming Soon

On Friday, April 19th, the students at Winfield City High School filmed their third annual school wide music video.The entire high school participated in the event, and the film was recorded in one continuous take, without stopping the camera.

This year, the video will be featured on the school website as well as on Youtube. Dawn Guin’s film classes are in the editing process, syncing the music to the student film.

As soon as the project is finished, it will be posted to the school website and to YouTube. Stay tuned!

Track Team Wins Sectionals

Winfield’s track and field teams, both boys and girls, won the Sectional 3A Tournament over the weekend. Congratulations to our Pirates.

Book Fair Parent Night

Winfield Elementary Library will have a Parent Night for the Book Fair on Tuesday, April 30 from 3:45 until 6:30 p.m. Come visit the book fair and register to win free merchandise! The book fair will be closed Monday afternoon for a faculty meeting but will be open each afternoon for the rest of the week. Friday, May 3rd will be the last day to visit the book fair. We appreciate your support as proceeds benefit the Winfield Elementary Library!
